Since 2003, I have worked as an elementary teacher, first as a specialist in the computer lab in Montreal, Canada, and, more recently, as a 5th grade homeroom teacher in Rabat, Morocco. I am originally from Quebec, Canada, but have lived in Morocco, (twice!) for a total of 9 years. I have the luxury of being able to say that I live by the ocean in one of the most interesting cities in the world!
My passions are education, technology, and the environment. I cherish every moment with my quirky, awe-inspiring fifth graders. Some of the most interesting individuals I’ve ever met are 11 years old. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in educational technology with UQAM’s distance education branch, Teluq. I hope to be able to do some research on the use of electronic portfolios and Web 2.0 tools in the elementary classroom. When I am not passing on some of the great resources my PLN brings me daily, I facilitate an elementary student-run ecoAction club after school. In a city where door-to-door recycling collection is not yet a reality, we have helped our school go green by implementing both paper and plastic recycling programs.
This is my first attempt at a professional blog. I welcome all comments, questions, tips – or rotten tomatoes!
